The Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, has once again thanked the Military Emergency Unit (UME) for their collaboration in setting up a shelter in one of the Fira de Barcelona pavilions to host homeless and vulnerable people during the pandemic of coronavirus. In telematic statements to the media, Colau welcomed the UME and stressed that “he arrived in Barcelona just two days after we asked them to.”
Members of this military unit, together with firefighters and the Red Cross, have begun to set up a Fira pavilion today “so that it can provide decent accommodation for up to a thousand vulnerable and homeless people, so that they can confine themselves to a suitable place », said the mayor.
Ada Colau has ensured that, in the face of this health crisis, the path to be followed is that of collaboration between all administrations, since she considers that it is what allows “to give the best answer”, and also collaboration with citizens, “Who must be the protagonist of the solution to the emergency we are facing,” she said.
