In the present moment of Catalonia, and with 48 hours left to vote in the Spanish elections, treating politics as reality and not as entelechy leads me to think about the next day of this important event.
I confirm that Spanish politics will not leave its crisis if it does not have the capacity to deal well with the Catalan conflict. At the same time I affirm, without any doubt, that this problem has no solution without a Catalan alternative to the independence of the process. Everything is concentrated on this point. Or there is an alternative in Catalonia, or Spain will not leave political instability.
Without a strong Catalonia, there will be no political stability in Spain; Just a continuous conflict.
As long as the ERC-JxCat-CUP set up the Government and represents the relative majority of Catalonia, our problem will be flammable material for Spanish politics, as the Vox effect makes evident. There will be no possible political interlocution, because its object will be located only in the field of the last ends, the last, material of impossible negotiation, except when it comes to avoiding a war or the end of it.
Plain and simple, without strong Catalanism there will be no political stability in Spain. They will only find a growing wound, a continuous conflict that already counts in their favor having generated some professionals who live at their expense. And this fact, according to the manual, indicates a stable phase of the political contest.
Only a force that firmly affirms itself in social Catalanism, and has the will to govern or condition the government of the Generalitat, can alter the current correlation of forces in Catalonia.
Some Spanish politicians have the illusion of a future pact with Esquerra. It is impossible, because it remains a prisoner of the street and Puigdemont. Just as it did not dare to do what he believed and call elections, for fear of screaming of his own, ERC will not depart from the script that mark the new protagonists of the street: Tsunami and CDR, in addition to Puigdemont and its strategic group, They only trust the worse, the better.
But in addition, and along with the Spanish problem, there is a decisive Catalan reason to build the alternative. The evolution followed by the independentism of the procés, which has gone from the revolution of smiles to the impositions on the daily life of its compatriots, gives rise to a imperative collective need to defend our institutions of self-government – so degraded by their inordinately partisan use – , the full exercise of the statutory powers abandoned today and respect for our personal rights, recognized by the Spanish Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy, which reflect the European and international community requirements.
And it is that the pursuit of the independence dream does not justify making life impossible for compatriots. It is necessary to recover the right to move freely, to go to work without impediments, to access and move by rail and use the airports without more delays and more risks than usual. To study in a fruitful environment, and that minors are not used to throw them into the street. It seems as if its cause justifies everything. Well, no. We do not want to live under this threat.
And all that, it is obvious, will not be fixed by the PP, or Citizens, or the Colau commons, necessary collaborators of public confusion.
Preserving Catalan institutions means: 1) Freeing them from their strategic subordination to secret or opaque organizations, the Tsunamis, the CDRs, which substitute the policy for action in the street. 2) Recover their credibility and moral ascendant, qualities that ask to respect their inclusive nature at the service of all. 3) Cast out bad government. The unpredictability and the consequent disaster in the Francolí basin is the most recent and tragic example, but not the only one. 4) Recover the negotiating and pact capacity with the State. To solve immediate and vital questions, and others of wide scope and future projection. To place a reference: those who rule will not improve the conditions of the incarcerated, a Catalanist alternative can. 5) To be present again in Europe, valid interlocutors of the regional governments, of the states and of the EU, ending the ostracism to which the process has condemned us. 6) Recover respect for the law, institutions, people and public goods.
To achieve these ends, we need a political alternative endowed with sufficient democratic force to govern the Generalitat, ending the current disruption, without incurring the vices of the partitocracy that dominates politics today. A regenerative force that liquidates the misuse of public resources and introduces good governance. That put an end to the paralysis and degradation and reorder the more than 250 agencies dependent on the Generalitat, which have a multimillion-dollar cost, and recover the radio and television of Catalonia for public service.
