In 1937 the University of Lausanne (UNIL) awarded an honorary doctorate (Honoris Causa) to the dictator Benito Mussolini, leader of the Italian fascist regime. This unfortunate episode has marked the Swiss academic history, despite the many subsequent attempts to explain this great benevolence towards the tyrant.

Today, it is the University of Geneva (UNIGE) that never ceases to amaze us. And not in the good sense of the word. We still remember how on October 17, 2018 the Catalan supremacist Quim Torra was received as a celebrity, despite the protests of Spaniards and Catalans.

Then he could, in front of a parterre selected by the Catalan separatist apparatus, and without any contrary opinion to vomit his hatred towards the Spanish institution, in front of the media. Apparently, only one to three leaders are needed for the academic establishment to become an advocate of supremacist nationalism that tramples on both the rule of law and the foundations of democracy.

Professor Nicolas Levrat, who received a payment, according to the Court of Accounts (an independent court of accounts) and which was granted by a pro-separatist Generalitat almost 40,000 euros for a report on the right of the Catalans to self-determination. One can imagine that the existence of the Catalan social majority opposed to all sedition was not its subject. When contacted in the fall, Levrat had immediately wielded the lawyer’s threat.

This invites us to question the links of the Geneva professor Nico Krisch, active support of Marta Rovira and Carles Puigdemont, with the propaganda tool. We have seen it for a long time on social networks, especially on Twitter, against Spain. He was also present, along with the fugitives, in December 2018, still in Geneva, invited by the Swiss Press Club. Here, too, the tactics were the same: doctrinal and unidirectional discourse. It is known: Spain is fascist and Francoist. It must be said that the separatists have very few arguments.

Closer, our interest was Mathieu Crettenand, Assistant Rector of the University of Geneva (UNIGE). We write to ask you what your pecuniary links are with the apparatus in question. We are waiting for your response. In fact, Crettenand participates very actively in the International Trial Wath (ITW). A newly founded entity behind the Catalan separatist lobby Òmnium Cultural. ITW’s mission is to disqualify the Spanish Supreme Court in Madrid. Represent it as an incompetent and far-right authority in the eyes of the United Nations.

It is Thursday, July 18, 2019 that the report loaded with biased and deceptive comments is presented in Geneva, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Here also the choir is known by heart: political judgment!

The reading of the guided article by Mathieu Crettenand invites us to several reflections. What is the funding and links between the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and the Catalan separatist apparatus contaminated with so many cases of professional negligence and which also encourages the hate speech of the other? Should we remind you of the basic principles of precaution and reciprocity? This spring, we write to the address of the academic institution. We are still waiting for an answer. Later, and for her part, the head of the Ministry of Education in Geneva, the politician Anne Emery-Torracinta, responded politely that she had understood us. We are still vigilant!
