Salvador Illa affirms that the new government of ERC and JxCat will be “rather weak”
The socialist candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has declared that the PSC will make “a loyal and tough opposition, but also constructive” to the new government of the Generalitat of ERC and JxCat. In statements to the SER, Illa has affirmed that the pact between republicans and ex-CDC “is not a good agreement for Catalonia”, adding that “we thought that the majority were better off from the left”.
Salvador Illa says that what worries him “are the antecedents of how this government was formed”, and that “we do not predict solidity or an illusionary character for the people of Catalonia”. For Illa “it was not necessary to wait 93 days to do this”, stating that “we can expect a rather weak government”.
On the dialogue table between the central government and the Catalan government, the socialist leader assured that “the will of the PSC and also of Moncloa is for this to work.” Illa has affirmed that “if it has not met more times, it is because the Catalan government was not in conditions, according to Quim Torra”.
