If something has been made clear by the reactions to the famous report of the UN working group, which calls for the release of Oriol Junqueras and the Jordis, is that within the Procés there is still a coordination in certain areas working autonomously in respect to what presumably should be the decision centers of a political nature. One of them is the communicative or propagandistic one.

So within a few hours of being publicly known the outcome of the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), contrary to the interests of the independence movement, a campaign was launched, based on the report of the group of jurists, in the public and private media related to the Procés, with an unusual speed which is in no way the result of chance.

The text was even published by skipping certain formalities, such as giving the affected State a period of 48 hours to study it, as denounced by Spain. It seemed that someone had pressed for this report to see the light immediately whatever the cost.

News and talk shows related to the Procés flooded with this information the public opinion, burying and counteracting the ECHR ruling. And everything ended with the culmination of the Govern calling for the release of their prisoners based on this dubious report that is not even binding for the states.

Certainly there is at a communicative level in the Procés a propaganda system with a leading group that makes this type of decisions later transferred to the public opinion by way of the media of the Generalitat and the subsidized ones.

From there, journalists and intellectuals on the payroll devote their greatest efforts to the repetition of the echo of this information in a tiresome way until exhaustion so that the story does not decay.

Having so been quite clear that Catalan nationalism has no strength to impose a de facto independence, at present the only thing left is to perform tasks in the world of ideas to keep the ranks tight and try to win supporters for the cause. Having a well-tuned propaganda device capable of acting autonomously, beyond the concerns between parties or leaders, is indispensable.
