Perich’s clever vignettes (TV-3)
Ex President of Catalan Government (18 December 2003 – 28 November 2006) Maragall fell short uncovering corruption, after, all became known. The socialist ‘president’ uncovered the box of thunders in a precarious way, so much so that he had to retract himself there, but he had the courage to uncover it. Convergència Democràtica had appropriated from immemorial time a bite of 3% of the cost of public works awarded by their governments. This was imprecisely denounced by Maragall on February 24, 2005 in the Parliament for a self-righteous patriotic scandal of the head of the opposition, the nationalist Mas. That day, he inadvertently started rotating one of the procés’ various propellers.
“You have a problem, and that problem is called 3%,” snapped Maragall. Several years had yet to pass before the judicial investigation into the looting of the Palau de la Música revealed that Maragall had fallen short: the bites in many cases exceeded 3%.
Almost three years later, the Socialist MP Joan Ferran also fell short, then it has been seen. Ferran denounced the existence of a “nationalist crust” on TV-3 -the chain founded by the psychopath, blackmailer and finally murderer that Jordi Amat radiographs in El hijo del chófer- and Catalunya Ràdio. Like when Maragall pointed out the looting of the 3%, it also looked like the world was going to fall apart. A sacrilegious desecrating the temple.
On December 4, 2007, Ferran declared to EL PERIÓDICO: «There are some media gurus at the forefront of prime-time programs that do not report; editorialize. They systematically confuse information and opinion; their opinion. They use the Generalitat’s radio stations at will, as if they were their private pulpit, they launch slogans, they call on people to demonstrate against this or that.”
Loot in portions
A decade still had to pass before the two great forces of independentism, that of Puigdemont and that of Junqueras, fought in public and without embarrassment a crude battle for control of the stations of the Generalitat and the CCMA (the entity on which they depend ), and that concluded with the undisguised distribution of the loot in portions.
A few more years had to pass until last November the judicial recordings of the conversations between plumbers, contractors, evangelists and businessmen of the ‘procés’ came to light, dealing with the political submission of TV-3, the hiring of the chain and the welded ones. Just yesterday, the Barcelona Court endorsed the procedural neatness of the wiretaps ordered by the judge in the Voloh case.
There is a thread that links the convergent bites of 3% with the independence subjugation of a chain financed with the public budget. A thread that wraps itself around political ethics until it suffocates it. The 3% is self-defined. The hijacking of a station paid for by all taxpayers to turn it into an instrument of propaganda and ideological indoctrination at the service of only a part of them is also a form of corruption. More outrageous, if possible, in the electoral campaign.
