Annulated the agreement that denounced the “injustice” of the Court of Accounts against former members of the Government
Polytechnic University of Catalonia has been condemned by a Court in Barcelona for “violating the ideological freedom and freedom of expression of its professors”.
The rule, which also condemns the UPC to pay the procedural costs, annuls the agreement of this University Faculty, celebrated on September 14, 2021, in which this body denounced the “injustice” of the actions of the Court of Accounts against former members of the Government, among them the professors Andreu Mas Colell and Albert Carreras de Odriozola, and “showed solidarity with those affected”, adhering too to a statement of Institut d’Estudis Catalans that expressed itself in the same sense.
Several UPC members of University Professors for Coexistence (Juan Carlos Aguado, Alejandro Rodríguez, José M. Olm, José Juan de Felip and Santiago Torres), filed a contentious-administrative appeal for violation of their fundamental rights, alleging that the of the University may not issue political statements with partisan content.
With this ruling, the UPC joins the rest of the public universities in Barcelona condemned for violating fundamental public freedoms of professors, students and other staff. The UAB was for denying the registration in the directory of a constitutionalist student association, the others (UB, UPF, UOC and now UPC), for issuing partisan political statements.
