Non-partisan and pluralist communication and debate platform

The decomposition of the relations between the partners in the Govern is clamorous, unsustainable, ridiculous and almost obscene, which produces shame on the Catalan citizenry and leads politicians concerned to the most grotesque pantomime.

Last week’s show was painful, horrible and brilliant at the same time: Gabriel Rufián and Laura Borràs staged a very sour and stark exchange of words in the debate in Congress to approve the latest extension of the state of alarm, which had the endorsement of the republicans (via abstention) and the opposite vote of the post-Convergents. If you review that puppet of reproaches among Catalan independentists – where the head of the ERC ranks demonstrates that he does not know what the very important pact of the Majestic represented for self-government – you will conclude that President Torra can do nothing more than call elections immediately, better today than tomorrow. The decomposition of the relations between the partners in the Govern is clamorous, unsustainable, ridiculous and almost obscene, which produces shame on the Catalan citizenry and leads politicians concerned to the most grotesque pantomime. This fight in Madrid while here they show that everything is going well is too much theater, even for a society like the Catalan one, where the love of simulation is so intense that the difference between what really is and what seems to be block most of the relevant debates.

The Torra’s Executive has already hit rock bottom and, as happens with the coffee makers once we have prepared the coffee, now only the residue remains, some remains that are being reused compulsively, simulating that nothing happens, as if the citizens did not have enough palate to realize that the brew is just dirty water, getting worse. The dregs – as is known by all lovers of gardening – serve only to be mixed with the soil of the plants, not to make cups of coffee indefinitely and at a bargain price. And from the dregs (poso) we go directly to the well (pozo). I mean we are headed straight for the blackest well. It is not just the lousy management of the nursing homes, or the little credibility addressing the future of the Nissan factory, or the blows of the steering wheel in Interior, or the disorientation that the Departament d’Educació projects, or the responses of the councilor Spokeswoman … It is the whole of the Catalan Cabinet that is damaged. And as the coffee dregs are being reused, the legacy of the Torra-Aragonès team will not serve to fertilize the future Govern, regardless of the combination that comes out.

ERC wants to restart and JxCat wants to serve coffee dregs juice until the Supreme Judges say that the president must leave. The dialogue board (which according to Vice President Calvo will meet in July) cannot function as long as Torra is the maximum representation of the Catalan side, something that is known here and in Madrid, and that brings us – once again – to the box of the simulation and the waste of time. The predisposition of Puigdemont’s followers with respect to the dialogue board is describable.

The slightest sense of institutional responsibility and respect for the administered citizens require – and I stress the verb – that the President of Catalonia calls elections and avoids having to contemplate every day how the Government is shattering, in free fall to the bottom of the well .
