The Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC) continues its offensive in the Catalan business world. The pro-independence entity has launched a search engine for companies committed to the Catalan Republic and which did not “participate in the fear campaign”. This is the second phase of the association’s project, whose first stage was limited to making a registry of suppliers that showed their adhesion with a hypothetical independent Catalonia.
As La Vanguardia has advanced, this move -called Consum Estratègic– will cause controversy, since it allows a large boundary mark through the postal code and the scope of action of the company. Among these variables, it can be checked if the company consulted has the web in Catalan or if it serves its customers in Catalan.
Consum Estratègic will serve for the “liberation of those economic and business areas currently in the hands of the Ibex 35 companies, as well as others that live off the contacts in the Bernabéu box seats”. The ANC accuses the big business of being at the service of the State.
The national secretariat of the ANC and the Fem República commission would thus fulfill the commitment that was made at the General Assembly held on May 5 in Tarragona. The objective is to empower “the citizenship so that by itself with small actions” it will “shake the established factual powers” to favor other companies.
The aim of the web is to create a network of companies and cooperatives that can communicate with pro-independence consumers with the aim of creating a “republican market”. This network should prioritize commercial relations and become a source of financing for the secessionist cause.
In order to publicize its project, already available on the Internet, the Assembly intends to carry out a communicative dissemination campaign to increase the number of companies adhering to Consum Estratègic and encourage that adhesion among the small local commerce with a badge to identify the companies committed to the cause.
