“Nobody understands us”, in a “kalimero” attitude they fight in solitude against a powerful enemy that others do not dare to face. That is just what differentiates them, their insistent will to redeem us and free us from the most absolute fatality, despite the suffering it brings them, from the most unbearable loneliness. They are messiahs, beings of light and they exist. In Catalonia we have one, on Sunday we listened to his teachings again.
Carles Puigdemont has decided to share his experience in the face of adversity with all of us, he does so in two installments coinciding with the two stages of his cause. He has just published the first one covering the period from his investiture to his still mysterious flight. He has titled it “I explain myself” even if it is a kind of deconstruction of the art of explaining; I still do not understand how a publisher has dared to publish a book with crossed out fragments. Puigdemont has been promoted on Tv3 which (sometimes) is like doing it in the living room, where we are always the most handsome and intelligent. Hence the serenity, the calm tone, the absence of discomfort that one would expect in a political interview. To summarize: you have been disappointed, you have felt lonely, you have endured pressure headaches and you have had to make very difficult decisions.
No one escapes that Puigdemont continues to make decisions and that some of them should cause him the same headache as those of yesteryear, but it does not seem to be the case: in the distance he has consummated an announced fratricide; the disloyalty towards the PDeCAT in the umpteenth mutation of the Convergent space is so scandalous that as contradictory as it seems it will end up being silent, as it usually happens with any matter that may harm the greater good of processism as a whole. He sees no betrayal and trusts that everything will end well. Okay but let’s end, that’s the nuance.
Messianic personalities often suffer from a lack of self-criticism. For non-converts, the highlight of the interview was dedicated to the management of the Covid-19 outbreak in Catalonia. I do not know when we believed that the balance would be accurate. For Puigdemont there is no possible fault with the management of the Generalitat, defense at all costs and the dart accustomed to the State: if they do not do more it is because “Spain owes us money”, a classic that cannot be missing in any of its multiple versions. Meanwhile, the Catalans continue to be warned of imminent punishment if we do not behave well.
