One in four policemen want to leave Catalonia. According to the Unified Police Union (SUP) this Friday the reason, indicates the organization is "institutional neglect" in the face of "pro-independence harassment", not only towards the troops, but also "their families", to which are added various "discriminations” by local and autonomic administrations. The SUP's claim, as on other occasions, is that the Ministry of the Interior declare "territory of special singularity" the community, thus stopping "the drain on the staff suffered." The SUP union demands that the community be declared “territory of special singularity” to stop the march of agents

One in four agents stationed in Catalonia has requested the transfer to another community, according to the Unified Police Union (SUP) this Friday. The reason, indicates the organization, is “institutional neglect” in the face of “pro-independence harassment”, not only towards the troops, but also “their families”, they point out, to which are added various “discrimination” by local and autonomics administrations.

The SUP’s claim, as on other occasions, is that the Ministry of the Interior declare “territory of special singularity” the community, thus stopping “the drain on the staff suffered.” And, the union regrets, the number of police officers who decide to leave increases every year. If in 2020 there were about 800 who requested the transfer, this year there are already 900, about 25% of the total.

The intention is that, with this supplement, Interior will provide agents with “economic and social incentives” to promote roots. Not only because of “discrimination” against members of the body, but also because of the increased cost of life in the community. “Both factors push a greater number of police officers each year to change their destination,” they point out from the organization.

Of this wave of casualties, they point out that it is “especially serious” in the sub-inspection scale, where it affects 50% of the troops, while in the basic scale it is 30% of the agents. “The figures are scandalous, the deafness of the Interior even greater, and the latest controversy of the Generalitat delaying the vaccination of police officers further aggravates the situation,” they reproach.
