Joan Maria Piqué, the head of communication of the regional Minister of the Interior, Miquel Buch
Playing and provoking, over and over again. Joan Maria Piqué, the head of communication of the Councilor of the Interior, Miquel Buch, has once again started a fire in social networks, to the point that his tweet launched this Saturday morning has ended up with its withdraw. The message played with the armed struggle. A close collaborator for years with former President Artur Mas, Piqué has released a propaganda poster from the Civil War in which the arm of a man with a rifle is seen together with two outstanding dates: 1808 and 1936. “Again for our independence” read the poster, with a republican flag. Piqué adds a comment in the message: “Perhaps it is an approach that we have not yet proposed and would work.”
It is not the first time that Piqué has launched such comments. And it will not be the last unless the Govern that Quim Torra chairs takes action. The one to warn of this has been the union of the leaders of the Mossos d’Esquadra, Sicme, noting, also via twitter that “Interior needs people at the head of the communication department with the capacity to give sensible and calm messages. This does not represent us”.
The Quim Torra Government must decide if these comments are not of the slightest importance or should take action on the person of Piqué. He is, in any case, part of the confidence circle of former President Carles Puigdemont, and his commitment to independence and to speed up the steps to achieve it are clear.
