The PSC spokeswoman in Parliament, Alicia Romero, today called for the dismissal of TV3’s news director, journalist David Bassa, and to “re-found” Catalan public television. Romero has harshly criticized TV3, accusing it of “not fulfilling its mission.” “There is no pluralism of gender, sports, social, territorial or informational,” said the socialist leader.
However, the PSC spokeswoman has expressed her “utmost respect for communication professionals” and has focused the problem only on the figure of the head of news from the public channel. Romero explained that she will present this “refoundation proposal” of TV3 “in the coming weeks.”
Romero also stated that the PSC has requested the appearance of the acting vice president, Pere Aragonès, to give explanations about the health situation and the “de-management” of European funds. “It is intolerable that the Government has not been accountable to Parliament for 41 days,” criticized the socialist spokesperson.
The PSC has requested the convocation of the Board of Spokespersons of Parliament to give approval to the plenary session of Aragonès. In addition, it calls for the creation of four “basic” commissions, which are that of the MP Statute, that of the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation, that of the Audit Office and that of the Ombudsman.
