"I have disobeyed twice. I do not think it will be the last. In any case, what I can tell you is that the decisions of a Spanish court do not mark my calendar, in any way," Torra said in an interview on TV-3. The 'president' has taken for granted his disqualification by the Supreme. "I do not expect any decision that is not the disqualification. From the Spanish justice I do not expect anything," Torra claimed regarding the fact that after his possible disqualification a legal period opens during which an alternative candidate should be proposed.

‘President’ Quim Torra, has suggested that he could disobey the disqualification decreed by the Supreme Court regarding the judgment of the TSJC that disqualified him for the banner in favor of the prisoners. “I have disobeyed twice. I do not think it will be the last. In any case, what I can tell you is that the decisions of a Spanish court do not mark my calendar, in any way,” Torra said in an interview on TV-3.

The ‘president’ has taken for granted his disqualification by the Supreme. “I do not expect any decision that is not the disqualification. From the Spanish justice I do not expect anything,” he asserted. Torra has avoided specifying the date of the elections in relation to this possible sentence, beyond stating that he already knows the date of the elections but will not reveal it. “For months I have known the date perfectly, because I set it according to the interests of the country above all, and the prestige of the institution,” he said. “No court will mark my calendar”, he has limited himself to affirming. “The legislature does not necessarily have to be exhausted, whatever is best for the country,” he added.

No alternative candidate

“If a ‘president’ is disqualified, dignity of presidency should be preserved and no other president chosen” don’t mention it, Torra claimed regarding the fact that after his possible disqualification a legal period opens during which an alternative candidate should be proposed. “I could not understand that any pro-independence party presented any candidate,” Torra added in a direct message to JxCat and also to ERC.

State of Alarm and Army

Torra has affirmed that he does not rule out asking for the state of Alarm for Catalonia and the help of the Spanish Army to face the outbreaks of coronavirus. “We could come to need it [the state of alarm], I do not rule out anything, I do not rule out having to request Army men if necessary, the priority for me is the health and life of the people, whatever is necessary,” he assured .

Regarding the alarm status, it has been considered a possibility in the event that a perimeter closure of the whole of Catalonia is required to be decreed. Asked if these two possibilities are contradictory to the criticism of the Government for having decreed the State of Alarm, Torra replied: “When things are to help, is good for me, when [the Prime Minister, Pedro] Sánchez declared the total confinement I was there. When the central State does what it has to do, I go out and say: it is a good decision. “

Contact with Sánchez

In an interview on TV-3, Torra has revealed a telephone conversation with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to address the situation of the pandemic, and they have begun to speak about the possible state of alarm that the autonomies may decree and on the situation of families in cases of Covid in schools. The ‘president’ has especially insisted on the need for compensation for families who must take care of their children if Covid outbreaks are decreed in schools that leave minors at home.

“Maximum responsibility, avoiding crowds, do things with creativity and rigor that the Assemblea Nacional Catalana has always shown,” Torra claimed in relation to the upcoming Day of Catalonia 11-S, the Diada’s demonstrations, and defended the right to demonstrate.

The PDECat crisis

Torra has regretted that the PDECat has brought to court the faithful people of the “former president” Carles Puigdemont for the usurpation of the name Junts per Catalunya. “I regret that an issue like this has been taken to court, it is no good to take things to this extreme,” he said, and confirmed that he will not be a member of the new party of the ‘expresident’ Puigdemont because he wants to focus on the pandemic and “keep bridges “inside the pro-independence movement”.
