Catalan Government recognized on Tuesday that the system devised to distribute 20 million euros for the self-employed was not adequate. Meritxell Budó, Regional Minister of the Presidency, apologized to the public for the collapse once the Executive Council meeting was over. A little later the vice-president of the Government with functions of president, Pere Aragonès, did. But his apology incorporated some reproaches that sovereign formation Comuns did not like. For this reason, the president of the Catalan parliamentary group En Comú Podem, Jéssica Albiach, has accused the Catalan leader of “distributing Catalan identity cards”.
“Catalonia does not need anyone to distribute badges of good or bad Catalans”, has expressed Albiach, at the same time she has invited ERC to abandon “identity and essentialist positions”. Albiach has reacted in this way in her brief public intervention in the national council of her party, which must clarify the primary calendar by which the candidates who will accompany her in the list of elections to Parliament will be chosen.
Acting president Aragonés spoke of Catalunya en Comú, as well as of the socialists PSC, as parties “of the Government of the Spanish State with delegation in Catalonia”. “It seems that for Mr. Aragonès we are not Catalan enough,” lamented the leader of the Comuns.
Albiach has criticized the words of the also national coordinator of Esquerra Republicana-ERC and has ensured that it was precisely the Comuns who made it possible for the Generalitat to have new budgets, after managing for two and a half years with the accounts of 2017.
Albiach regrets the words of the vice president of Catalan Government and recalls the Comuns have “put on the table of the Minister of Justice the reform of the crime of sedition”. In addition, she has ensured that Unidos Podemos has been the one who has achieved that in the general state budgets “there is a historic investment” for Catalonia. “We, who have moved the PSOE to recognize the existence of a conflict between Catalonia and Spain; we who have put on the table of the Minister of Justice the reform of the Penal Code to modify the crime of sedition ”, Albiach complained before the words of the vice president.
In any case, the leader of the Comuns has been convinced that Aragonès is aware that “he has made a mistake and that it is necessary to rectify, not only in words, but in deeds.”
To do this, Albiach has urged the Government to rectify the “controversial management is doing” to face the health, economic and social crisis caused by Covid-19. However, she has reached out to the Catalan Executive and has opted to put the confrontation aside because now it is “more important than ever collective intelligence.
