The public television of the Generalitat will end up broadcasting the Federal documentary, directed by Albert Solé and produced by Federalistes d’Esquerres, but it will not do so on its main channel but on Channel 33. It will be next Saturday, October 17 at 10:30 p.m. hours. The president of Federalistes d’Esquerres, Joan Botella, explained, in a press conference held on September 15, that he had sent the documentary to the direction of the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation (CCMA) in March 2018 and that had not received any response on its possible broadcast. For this reason, Federalistes d’Esquerres filed a complaint with the Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC) for this body to issue a resolution “making the broadcast of the Federal documentary by TV3 mandatory, under conditions comparable to the broadcasting of other documentaries of social and political content “. The ACC has not yet ruled on this issue.
Last January, after receiving no response from the CCMA for months, Federalistes d’Esquerres reiterated the request for the broadcast of the documentary to its acting president, Núria Llorach. Llorach responded on January 23 that she had sent the request “to the television management so that they can evaluate it and process it with the people who bring documentaries to the house. They will get in touch with you.” Nine months later no one had contacted them. Finally, the president of the association has received a communication from the CCMA in which he is informed of the screening of the documentary on Channel 33. The director of TV3, Vicent Sanchis, has considered that this is his best fit in the different channels of Catalan public television.
Many federalists have shared the message of the socialist deputy Raúl Moreno on Twitter in which he complains that Federal is not broadcast in the framework of documentary programs and TV3 reports such as Sense Ficció or 30 minuts. “If instead of talking about federalism I did it about independence, thing would be different,” Moreno wrote. All the reports and documentaries related to the Catalan political situation made or commissioned by the Generalitat’s public television have been shown on TV3. This is the case of “Mossos, lights and shadows”, “A process within the process”, “1-O, open case”, “Truncated lives, stories of impunity, 1-O” and “Altasu, open wounds”, included in the Sense ficció program, or “Arenys, where everything begins”, “Target 0.7%”, “Sentenced”, “Between robes”. “52 days in the Supreme Court” and “Marked by October 1”, at 30 minuts.
Federal is a Minimal Films production, directed by Albert Solé and analyzes the history, the present and the future of the federalist proposal to organize societies. It includes thinkers and political leaders such as Owen Jones, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, Romano Prodi, Emma Bonino, Victoria Camps, Josep Lluís Carod Rovira, José Manuel García-Margallo, Javier Solana, Paolo Vacca, Daniel Innenarity or Juan Carlos Monedero. It has been screened in theaters in Catalonia, Andalusia, the Basque Country, Madrid, Galicia and Valencia and, on two occasions, at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels. On Channel 33, the Sense ficció programs are broadcast in a reissue after the show on TV3.

At Federalistes d’Esquerres they are now waiting to see what kind of promotion the Federal CCMA does and if it is comparable to what has been done with other political documentaries.
