The attacked journalist of Tele 5 in the video of the TV network.
Tele 5 journalist Laila Jiménez, who covered the information of the 1-O demonstration in Barcelona, has been rebuked and assaulted by a group of protesters, who have come to throw liquid at her head.
The informant, who was in front of her camera among the people who protested, has received the anger of some of them who told off shouting “Away from here, liars”. Meanwhile, another group of protesters faced the first asking them to leave her alone.
Some people have shouted “why don’t you go?”, to which she replied that she was doing her job. The journalist has received a liquid in her head and in her hand, which she has cleaned with a handkerchief ready to appear live and direct in front of the camera.
In the end, in the face of insults and verbal aggressions, Jiménez and the cameraman have chosen to get out of the way, while other protesters made a safety cordon for them to leave the group of aggressors.
Telecinco has published the news in its website with the following note: “In the images taken you can see the pressure felt by the journalist, who was working and covering the information, information to which all Spaniards are entitled, which is included in international law”.
Precedent in the Diada
It is not the first aggression suffered by journalists covering pro-independence acts. In the past Diada, TVE journalist Ángela García Romero was attacked during a live connection outside the Parliament of Catalonia.
The Council of Europe plataform that promotes the protection of journalism and the safety of journalists launched an alarm following that aggression.
