The opposition calls for the resignation of Laura Borràs for participating in the illegal cut of the Meridiana
The president of the Parliament turned her back on the Government to support the ANC
Representatives of Ciutadans, PP and Units in the Parliament of Catalonia have called through social networks for the resignation of the president of the Catalan chamber, Laura Borràs, for her participation in the unauthorized cut of Meridiana Avenue in Barcelona.
The MP of Catalan popular party PP in the Parliament Lorena Roldán has accused Laura Borràs of participating in the court of Meridiana avenue, one of the main entrances to the city, to “redeem herself before her own” after having withdrawn the seat from the CUP MP Pau Juvillà. Roldán adds that “it is inadmissible for the President of the Parliament to participate in an illegal demonstration” and for this reason she demands that she “stop discrediting her position and resign.”
For his part, the spokesman for Ciutadans in the Catalan chamber, Carlos Carrizosa, criticized Borràs for joining the pro-independence rally “headed by the founder of Terra Lliure” -referring to Frederic Bentanachs- and pointed out that “Borràs must resign: Public officials who break the law are disqualified from requiring citizens to comply with it.”
From Units, a party that ran for the elections hand in hand with the PSC, Ramon Espadaler described Borràs’s action as a “sad exercise in populism” and criticized that she did not obey the Interior Department as she did with the Central Electoral Board “with gestures ” in the case of Juvillà.
For their part, none of the main representatives of the PSC or En Comú Podem has spoken about the participation of Laura Borràs in the illegal cut of the Meridiana.
