The Spanish president avoids announcing the date of the new meeting of the dialogue table and prioritizes defeating the pandemic
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured today that his objective at the dialogue table with Catalan Government is “to overcome the process and to stop having two separate blocks of Catalan society.” This is how the socialist leader responded to the words of the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, who claimed the need for the negotiation to offer “tangible results” or, otherwise, he will seek alternatives.
The dialogue table is scheduled to meet this January in Madrid after a first meeting in Barcelona. However, Pedro Sánchez has avoided putting a date on the second meeting: “We will say when the table is going to meet. It will meet for sure but it is common sense that we leave a few weeks to work on what matters citizenship, which is the sixth wave and consolidate the economic recovery in the country. Europa Press has collected the president’s statements at his appearance at La Moncloa to take stock of the year.
In the middle of the sixth wave of covid-19, Pedro Sánchez has stressed that it is “common sense” that the priority for both executives is now the fight against the pandemic and economic recovery. “It is logical,” he said, that his priorities “urgently” are those.
Likewise, Sánchez has affirmed that “everyone” intends to achieve tangible results in the negotiation. He has also reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue in favor of “harmony and coexistence” in a society “that has lived fractured” in recent years and has now recovered “normality.”
