The judicial authorities of Canada have confirmed the denial of entry to Carles Puigdemont, former president of Catalonia and MEP of Junts, with a resolution of September 22 known this Tuesday. The Federal Court of Canada, in particular, has endorsed as “justified” and “transparent” the actions of immigration officials who denied Puigdemont permission to travel in 2019.
The sentence attributes to the former Catalan president “a massive sending of 400 pages” instead of having provided a “simple” information requested three times. This behavior on the part of Puigdemont, invited by the Québec secessionist entity Société Saint-Jean Baptiste de Québec, has been viewed as possibly elusive from questions raised by immigration officials.
The Federal Court of Canada reflects in its resolution that Puigdemont, in the first request, denied that he was accused of any crime despite the national and international arrest warrants issued by the Spanish justice system.
In subsequent Puigdemont petitions, according to the same court, “it gives the impression” that the charges against Puigdemont have already been withdrawn, and when an official requested information on the description of the charges he faced in Spain and Spanish law , received in response more than 400 pages attached in emails with no index or explanation.
