Catalonia has been immersed for a long time in a desperate political battle that does not seem to have an end. The independence movement does not renounce its objectives, but these seem increasingly difficult to achieve as we move away from 2017. One conclusion could be that no one has won the battle: on the one hand, Catalonia is far from the dream of independence and, on the other hand, another, Spain still does not convince a significant part of the Catalan population to give up the secessionist adventure. Boards.
The solution will only come when the two parties meet. One will not be imposed on the other. And the GAD3 survey published today by La Vanguardia represents progress towards this path of convergence. It is evident that the story of the dialogue is being imposed little by little and the best proof is that percentage of 80% of those surveyed who believe that the best solution to resolve the conflict is the agreement negotiated between the two parties. The supporters of the unilateral route only add up to 13.8%. In the same way, the most possible and pragmatic discourse of ERC clearly imposes itself on the most skeptical and belligerent that Junts proposes. The republicans would escape, according to the poll, to the 39 seats minimum against the 27 of Junts. The Socialists would lose the first position and would stay practically the same. To top it off, the two best valued politicians are Oriol Junqueras and Pere Aragonès.
The problem in Catalonia is that the world is not waiting for us and this journey towards reunion is going very slowly. In the meantime, the country is losing opportunities, such as the expansion of the airport (tomorrow appears in the second part of the survey) or its administrations show signs of absolute ineffectiveness, as has happened this weekend in Barcelona during the festivities of the Mercè where there has been impunity for some vandals to cause damage. In this case, the main responsibility lies with the Barcelona City Council, but the global image that Catalonia transmits is regrettable.
