The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has ordered the Generalitat this Monday to provide the students of the selectivity tests for access to universities this September with the statements in Spanish, Catalan and Aranese, without prioritizing Catalan, or identifying the students depending on the option chosen, or write down in which language each one takes the test.

The fifth section of the contentious-administrative chamber of the TSJC has concluded that the Generalitat did not correctly comply with the precautionary measures issued in June, which required the distribution of the exams “without preferences” in any of the three languages. In particular, it points out that the anonymity of the students with respect to the chosen language was not guaranteed.

The TSJC has maintained the precautionary measures and has required the Inter-university Council of Catalonia and the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat, headed by the regional minister Gemma Geis, to communicate compliance with these instructions to the presidents of the courts in charge of the access tests to university that begins this Tuesday.

As published by Vilaweb, citing the content of an internal circular, the Department of Research and Universities has already complied with the TSJC’s resolution on the elimination of the preference for Catalan and the non-identification of students.
