Pedro Sánchez will kick off Wake Up, Spain! the great Spanish Economic Forum that starts this Monday at 09:30 in the morning. The President of the Government will be in charge of opening a symposium in which the best way to invest the money from the NextGeneration funds that will arrive from the European Union will be discussed.
The President’s intervention will come at a key moment, as it will occur scarcely 24 hours before the Interministerial Commission that monitors the evolution and delivery of the funds approves the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
It will include the main reforms that the Government will propose to Brussels for the coming years, and with which it seeks to give confidence before the NextGeneration funds begin to be unblocked.
Once the document has been approved by the Commission, which will be on Tuesday, Pedro Sánchez will present it to the Congress of Deputies on Wednesday. Sánchez’s intervention in Wake Up, Spain! It will be, therefore, key to see if it gives some touches on the plans that the Government has for Tuesday.
The inauguration of Sánchez will precede the debates that will be held for four days in Wake Up, Spain! a meeting point for the exchange of ideas on how European funds should be invested.
Between this Monday and Thursday, the Spanish Economic Forum will bring together more than 170 speakers from the world of politics, business, social agents, science and technology. A forum that will be closed by Ángel Gurría and the vice president of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis.
The first day of Wake Up, Spain! will be dedicated to talking about digitization. Thus, after the intervention of Pedro Sánchez, it will be the turn to speak of the Next Generation Funds as a lever for reconstruction, a table where the president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi; Pepe Álvarez, Secretary General of the UGT; the president of the Chambers, José Luis Bonet; Pilar López, president of Microsoft; Federico Linares, president of EY and Cristina Garmendia, president of the Cotec Foundation.
Digitization
The world of digital and science will be present in the conversation that the president of Telefónica, José María Álvarez Pallete will have with María Blasco, director of the National Center for Oncological Research (CNIO).

Posed as a ‘Spanish Davos’, Wake Up, Spain! will focus its debates around the axes of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan that the Government will approve next Tuesday in the Council of Ministers.
