The CAT (Catalonia) adhesive on vehicle license plates and any other sticker made illegal by the French Court of Cassation.

15 January 2021

The CAT (Catalonia) adhesive on vehicle license plates is illegal in the French state.

This prohibition not only applies to the CAT (Catalonia) sticker, but also to the stickers with the four-bar flag, or to any other element added to the license plates.

The French Court of Cassation has just given the reason to the license plate manufacturer who denounced the commercialization of adhesives that modify the license plates of vehicles. So, currently, it is totally prohibited to stick a sticker to a license plate. The infraction will be sanctioned with a fine of 135 to 750 euros.
