Graffiti on the facade of the restaurant in Barcelona that serves in Spanish / TWITTER
Graffiti on the facade of the Italian local that has already suffered the boycott of radical nationalists through social networks
“Speak Catalan or emigrate”, accompanied by the number 33, which the fascists use to claim “Catalan Catalonia”. So reads a graffiti that has appeared on the façade of Ristorante Marinella, an Italian restaurant located in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona. This is not the first time that radical nationalists have charged against the place.
It was on Friday of last week when an Internet user pointed to the establishment for serving its customers in Spanish. The alleged complaint read as follows: “In Carrer del Clot with Biscaia there is a pizzeria called Marinella, where they do not serve you in Catalan. But also, if you complain, the owner is offended and you go home without pizza”. Thus began the persecution on social networks.
Threats to the restaurant
The owner “is receiving threats, massive reports that have made her lose her social media accounts and massively negative reviews [that] are also making her lose clients”, explained one of her regular clients, also via Twitter. .
The reaction to the persecution was an avalanche of solidarity with the restaurant. Making small and sustained oeders over time was the initiative of those who sympathized with the Italian, attacked for attending in Spanish.
Attending in Spanish
But this campaign of support has not stopped the attacks, and this morning, the facade of the business woke up with the aforementioned graffiti for serving its customers in one of the two official languages of Catalonia.
