The organizers criticize that the norm does not make explicit that Spanish has to be the vehicular language of education throughout the State, something that in their opinion "marginalizes" this language and responds only the will to seek the support of the independentists for the 2021 budgets. They wanted the call to be clearly "left" to show that not only the right is against the government's educational project for the treatment it gives to the Spanish language.

Nine left-wing entities have convened next Wednesday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. a rally in front of the Government delegation in Catalonia, in Barcelona, against the educational reform of the Pedro Sánchez Executive, the Lomloe or Celaá law.

The organizers criticize that the norm promoted by the PSOE and United Podemos coalition government does not make explicit that Spanish has to be the vehicular language of education throughout the State, something that in their opinion “marginalizes” this language and responds only the will to seek the support of the independentists for the 2021 budgets.

Among those who sign the call is the vice president of Catalan Civil Society, Javier Marín, who on this occasion represents the Red Line collective, and other entities that are located on the left such as the Feminist Party, Center Left of Spain, Progressive Citizen Alternative, the Social Assembly of the Left of Catalonia, Unidos Sí, Izquierda en Positivo, We are Spain and the Socialist Labor Party.

Speaking to Efe, Marín stressed that they wanted the call to be clearly “left” to show that not only the right is against the government’s educational project for the treatment it gives to the Spanish language.

The one who was a member of the PSC for four decades has trusted that this first mobilization against the Celaá law in Catalonia will give way to more massive ones in the coming weeks.
