The College of Physicians asks to avoid massive concentrations for the Day of Catalonia, la Diada
The president of the Barcelona College of Physicians, Jaume Padrós, has urged parties and entities this Sunday to “avoid convening concentrations and events that could become massive” for the Diada.
In a message on Twitter, Padrós assured that “the claims or celebrations this year have to be different.” “We are risking a lot,” he warned, coinciding with a day when 1,459 new cases of covid-19 confirmed by PCR have been notified.
The risk of outbreaks is at a “very high” level and has already passed the 200 threshold.
The head of Preventive Medicine at Hospital Clínic, Antoni Trilla, has been one of those who has replicated Padrós’ message, supporting his request to avoid mass concentrations on the occasion of September 11.
The ANC and other pro-independence entities have called in recent years massive demonstrations to demand the right to self-determination, which have also traditionally been replicated from opposite positions.
The Generalitat has banned concentrations of more than 10 people in Catalonia.
