The vice-president, Montero, has conveyed the central government’s commitment to “discretion” and is confident of an agreement on 7 March.
The first vice-president of the Spanish government and deputy secretary general of the PSOE, María Jesús Montero, has assured that the executive of Pedro Sánchez must maintain “discretion” over the negotiations with Junts for the approval of the amnesty law, which will again be debated and voted on in committee on 7 March.
In statements to the corridors of Congress collected by the ACN, Montero recalled that Junts also prescribes this “discretion” to achieve results and hopes that an agreement can be reached that avoids having to seek formulas such as a new extension of the commission.
After the fiasco of the vote in the plenary session of Congress on 30 January, in which the refusal of Junts overturned the text defended by the PSOE, the law returned to the Justice Committee, which had 15 days to draw up a new opinion.
The lack of agreement forced the Socialists to ask for a 15-day extension that expires on 7 March, a period marked by silence between the parties on the evolution of the negotiations.
