The head of the opposition calls for leaving behind what “separates us” and defends the plurality of a Catalonia that “is on the move”.

The leader of the Socialists in Catalonia, Salvador Illa, has called for coexistence between “all Catalans” and with the rest of the peoples of Spain and Europe, in a message on the occasion of the Diada on 11 September.

In a video published this Sunday from Vielha (Lleida), the head of the opposition wanted to highlight the plurality of Catalonia. He said: “Emphasise what unites us, not what separates us, what we have in common, what makes us proud to be Catalans”.

“Catalonia is on the move”.

Illa also celebrated the hard-working nature of the Catalans and said that “Catalonia is not standing still”, quite the contrary: “Catalonia is on the move“, he said. And he affirmed his desire “to be and to live together, to recognise the plurality of Catalonia and to live the future with the hope that we still have important things to do”.

He also urged us to look to the future and reminded us that Catalonia “must first be self-demanding with itself in order to then be self-demanding with others”.

The socialist ended his message by calling for hope and wished a happy Diada in Catalan, Spanish and Aranese. A celebration that, this year, comes in the midst of negotiations between Junts and ERC and the PSOE for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez.
