The former president of the Generalitat Artur Mas / EUROPA PRESS
The former president assures that ERC intends to “become the hegemonic party in Catalonia”, although “it is costing it a great deal”.
The former president of the Generalitat Artur Mas has assured that “the procés is neither alive nor dead, it is in the freezer hibernating“. He also said that only the citizens will be able to determine whether or not it is still alive.
“No one can certify whether or not the procés is over or not, only the citizens of Catalonia can certify it through their vote”, he said in an interview on El suplement de Catalunya Ràdio.
“The ‘procés’ continues to exist”.
“If any character, even the President of the Government, is dedicated to saying that it is over, I believe that it is not only a provocation, but it is also irresponsible and false“. And he insisted that it will only be over “the day that the citizens of Catalonia vote in the elections of the Catalan Parliament and the pro-independence parties do not have a majority”.
But he stressed that this has not happened so far. Therefore, “as long as this does not happen, the procés continues to exist, and as long as there are many people in Catalonia who want a future of independence or self-determination, this will be on the table”.
Criticism of ERC
On the other hand, Mas criticised ERC, assuring that “it wants to become the hegemonic party in Catalonia, but it is having a very hard time”.
He said that the party has a very clear strategy, which can be seen everywhere. “They are trying, but they are not getting ahead”, he concluded.
