This week has been intense. The reform of the crime of sedition and the threat of the crime of embezzlement were at the centre of the debate. In Madrid, the right wing lashed out against Sánchez because he was leaving the State without defence against crimes such as those that occurred in 2017. In Barcelona, the right said just the opposite, that the reform deepened repression. In Madrid, Sánchez was selling Spain. In Barcelona, Aragonés was selling Catalonia. In Madrid, there was an outcry in Madrid because sentences were reduced. In Barcelona, the Catalan right, with the inestimable support of the anti-system and anti-capitalists, were tearing their hair out because the penalties were punishing patriots. In Madrid, Spain is breaking into pieces although they are very careful not to mention article 155. In Catalonia, 155 is still alive and is a threat. And what are they waiting for? The Spanish right wing says that the system used to bring it to Congress wants to prevent the Council of State and the Judiciary from giving their opinion. Of course, the Judiciary will be against it because they continue to defend Llarena despite the European upheavals. The Catalan right almost prefers the ruling to raise the flag of unredeemed victimhood, which is already tiring.
Radio and television talk shows are the cotton wool test. In Madrid, a supporter of the reform was treated as a traitor. In Barcelona, that supporter was also treated as a traitor. The Spanish and Catalan right-wingers found their common denominator in crucifying those who sought a way out of the conflict. The solution does not solve the problem, not by a long shot, but it lays the foundations for a fluid dialogue, something the right-wingers do not even want to see or talk about. Feijóo is at ease brandishing Spain is breaking up. Turull, Puigdemont and the rest of the acolytes are happy to brandish the Catalan surrender.
The loop is guaranteed and the only thing missing is for the reform of embezzlement to come to the fore. Here we are talking about something else: how can embezzlement be reformed without benefiting the 3%? Can it be reformed only for those convicted on 1-0? I sincerely believe not. First, ERC has not been able, until now, to present a paper on which to debate. For the moment, the talk shows continue to stir up confrontation and debate on a reform that is not on the table.
It is not on the table because there was no agreement at the Dialogue Table. It is not on the table because Podemos has different visions. In fact, Echenique made amends to Jaume Asens. Compromís is not in favour. Neither is the PNV, and evidently neither is Junts, lest this force Puigdemont to return. The PSOE, moreover, prefers this to sleep the sleep of the just because it does not want to inflame the barons. The PP is happy to stir it up and sets itself up as the defender of the one Spain rather than the fifty-first. Feijóo, who engages in dialogue, is an entelechy. He does not exist.
