The banner found at the site of sabotage on the AVE (LV)
The Acció per la Independència platform attributes the action to the “bad service of the operating companies” while Catalan police – Mossos have an investigation open.
A banner with slogans against the King and with the signature of the CDRs was located by the Mossos d’Esquadra at one of the points of the high-speed line that were sabotaged during the early hours of Saturday to Sunday. This Wednesday morning the Acció per la Indepèndencia platform has claimed responsibility for the sabotage. On social networks, they assure that it was a sabotage “in protest at the poor service of the operating companies” and add that the action was coordinated and is directed at Spain, the Generalitat, political parties and entities.
The police have opened an investigation to find the perpetrators of some damage that is still in the process of being repaired by operators of the railway infrastructure administrator (Adif).
Although the circulation of trains on the line that connects Barcelona with Girona, Figueres and various destinations in France was re-established on Sunday, since then there have been delays with the corresponding effects on users. The technical staff is working in the area to fix the significant damage caused to the infrastructure by the acts of vandalism. The gutters and manholes of the wiring network of the train signaling system were completely destroyed, thus affecting railway safety and the normal circulation of trains.
Adif representatives have filed a complaint with Catalan police – Mossos d’Esquadra “for damage to infrastructure and railway operation”
Adif representatives have filed a complaint with the Mossos d’Esquadra “for damage to infrastructure and railway operation.” The content of the complaint will be expanded in the coming days when the cost of the repair and the effects it has had on the high-speed line are quantified. The damage occurred up to six different points of three sections. It is in one of them that the banner bearing the stamp of “CDR Acció (non stop)” appeared.
Acts of sabotage were recorded in a space of just twenty minutes in three different places and very far from each other, which leads us to think that several well-organized groups participated in the attack. The first of the acts of vandalism occurred at 00:03 hours, in the section between Riudellots and Vilobí. The second, five minutes later, at 00:08, between Vilobí and the entrance to Girona city. In both cases, bonfires were lit that affected traffic routes in both directions. In addition, at 00:20 hours, another sabotage was detected in a 24-kilometre section, between Girona and Vilademuls, where the damage affected one of the two AVE routes, according to sources from the infrastructure manager.
